Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport – Station Boxes & Tunnelling (SBT)

Project Description

The Sydney Metro WSA SBT project is the design and construction of twin 9.8km tunnels and station boxes connecting St Marys with Orchard Hills and the Airport Business Park with the new airport city centre, Aerotropolis (Bradfield).

The project provides a key transport connection to the new Western Sydney International Airport.

The works included TBM and roadheader tunnelling works, tunnel permanent lining, dive structures, and the excavation and support of 5 station boxes and 3 shafts.

Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package (WTP)

Project Description

Gamuda WTP Project Website

The NSW Government is delivering Sydney Metro West – a new underground metro railway which will double rail capacity between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD, link new communities to rail services and support employment growth and housing supply. The Gamuda and Laing O’Rourke Consortium (GLC) is delivering the Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package. The project involves nine kilometres of twin metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park, excavation for two new metro stations, a stabling and maintenance facility at Clyde, and a precast facility at Eastern Creek.

– Twin 9km tunnels from Sydney Olympic Park to Westmead
– A Tunnel Boring Machine launch site at Rosehill, tunnelling first towards Sydney Olympic Park and relaunched from Rosehill towards Westmead
– Excavation for a services facility and crossover structure at Rosehill to allow provision for fresh air ventilation and emergency egress
– Tunnel portal and dive excavation at Clyde Stabling and Maintenance Facility
– Earthworks, retaining structures, drainage and utilities corridor for the Clyde Stabling and Maintenance Facility
– Excavation and civil works for Parramatta and Westmead stations
– A segment manufacturing facility at Eastern Creek constructing over 60,000 segments to line the twin tunnels

Project Description

The Sydney Metro West Eastern Tunnelling Package (ETP) is the design and construction of 3.5km of twin metro tunnels and station excavation connecting The Bays Precinct and Hunter Street in Sydney CBD.

The works include demolition and shaft and underground cavern excavation at both Pyrmont and Hunter Street, including complex permanent structural lining.

M6 Stage 1

Project Description

Transport for NSW’s M6 Stage 1 project features twin 4km tunnels linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah. The works involve complex roadheader tunnelling through varying geology, the construction of a dive portal structure, and upgrades and tie-ins to existing road infrastructure.

– 4km twin road tunnels

– Excavation:

– Roadheaders in Hawkesbury Sandstone
– Excavators in sands and clay with jet-grouting treatment

– 125m open cut + 230m cut & cover excavation (with top-down construction method)

– 2 caverns: section up to 267m²

– 3-lane tunnels: section up to 182m²
