Project Description

 

ACCIONA, Cobra and Endeavour Energy, have signed an agreement with EnergyCo to develop the Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in New South Wales.

ACEREZ, a consortium formed by ACCIONA, Cobra and Endeavour Energy, will develop the Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in New South Wales for EnergyCo – the government agency responsible for developing the REZ. The new infrastructure, one of Australia’s largest green power grids, will bring significant economic benefits to the region, with AU$10 billion (€6.2 billion) of expected private investment through 2030 and the creation of 5,000 jobs during the construction phase.

HumeLink East

Bannaby to Wondalga, NSW

Project Description

HumeLink will deliver a cheaper, more reliable, and more sustainable grid for Australia to meet its future energy demends by increasing the capacity for renewable energy to be delivered across the national electricity market.

HumeLink East, one of the largest energy infrastructure initiatives in Australia, involves the design and construction of 237km of new 500kV dual circuit overhead transmission lines from Bannaby to Wondalga and the expansion of the existing Bannaby 500kV substation. The project will connect with HumeLink West at the Wondalga interface point.

Hydro Tasmania – Tarraleah Redevelopment Project

Battery of The Nation (BoTN)
Tarraleah, TAS

Project Description

The Tarraleah Redevelopment Project is part of Hydro Tasmania’s Battery of the Nation initiative, aimed at upgrading the existing hydropower system to increase capacity and flexibility.

The project will enhance the Tarraleah scheme, one of Tasmania’s most important power stations, with a new 190 MW power station located adjacent to the existing one in the Nive Valley.

Key Features:

– Construction of new pressurised tunnels and a pipeline to transfer water from Lake King William.

– A 12 km headrace tunnel and 4.2 km pipeline to convey water to the new power station.

– Installation of a 70m high surge tower to manage water pressure.

– New transmission corridor (16 km) to link with existing transmission lines.

– Construction workforce of up to 250 people, with a peak construction period of four years.

– Development of workforce accommodation co-located with the existing Tarraleah village.

– Decommissioning of the old Tarraleah Power Station and related infrastructure.

JAGCON Group were engaged to assist in the development of the project at feasibility stage prior to project approval by providing consultancy services to develop the civil construction methodology and assist with project schedule development.

JAGCON Group have also undertaken critical review for the Lake King William upgrade works including support on site during delivery.

Inland Rail – Illabo to Stockinbingal (I2S)

Illabo to Stockinbingal, NSW

Project Description

Inland Rail is an important project to meet Australia’s growing freight task, improve road safety and help decarbonise our economy. Inland Rail involves enhancing approximately 1,000km of existing railway track and constructing 600km of new track passing through regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

The Illabo to Stockinbingal (I2S) project involves the construction of 37km of new rail corridor and
2km of upgraded track just east of Illabo and at Stockinbingal, NSW. This new section of rail corridor will provide a direct route from Illabo to Stockinbingal through to the existing Forbes line. This will bypass Cootamundra and the steep and windy Bethungra Range with its Bethungra Spiral.

Western Harbour Tunnel Stage 2

Sydney, NSW

Project Description

The Western Harbour Tunnel will be the crucial second road crossing underneath Sydney Harbour, providing a western bypass of the CBD with twin three-lane tunnels to ease pressure on the Sydney road network.

Stage 2 includes tunnelling from the WestConnex Rozelle Interchange at Birchgrove to the Warringah Freeway at Cammeray. The original plans for an immersed tube tunnel were changed to a TBM methodology, with twin 1.5km drives under Sydney Harbour, to reduce impacts on the harbour and seabed. The Stage 2 scope also includes roadheader tunnelling and full fit-out of the tunnels.
