Project Description

Fortescue aims to develop hydropower resources to support the establishment of green energy and green product industries around the world.

Fortescue Future Industries has signed a Master Development Agreement with the Papua New Guinea government to undertake feasibility studies to develop up to 7 hydropower projects and 11 geothermal energy projects, including a hydropower project along the Purari River on the nation’s southern coast.

JAGCON Group worked with Fortescue Future Industries to conduct a feasibility study on tunnelling concepts for several potential hydropower project locations. This included assessment and development of conceptual tunnelling methods and support types, cost and program estimates, and constructability evaluations and optimisations.
